During the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure of Assisted Reproductive Technology, the implantation of a fertilized human embryo into a woman’s uterus will determine whether in-vitro fertilization will be successful or not.  The physical toil, financial cost and levels of emotional intensity involved in IVF is vast, so why not do everything you can to increase the odds of a successful transfer?

Studies have shown that hypnosis doubles the rate of embryo implantation of IVF!

Dr. Eliahu Levitas of Soroka University Medical Center in Beer Sheva published the study in May 2006 in Fertility & Sterility, Journal of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (March 2006, vol. 85).  This study found that women who are hypnotized before undergoing the transfer of an egg fertilized through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) into the uterus, may be more likely to become pregnant.  It showed that nearly 60% of a group of women who used hypnosis during the procedure became pregnant compared to about 30% of a group of women who didn’t use hypnosis!

The hypnosis will take place at the doctor's office.  Before the transfer procedure begins, I will introduce a hypnotic state within the client and guide her to revisit a “very pleasant” past experience of her choosing.  The storyline will be created prior to the transfer date through interviewing the client to find out what scenario would be most relaxing.  The story will be audio taped.  The client will be then be taken out of the hypnotic trance state after the procedure is complete.  The audio file can then be listened to through out the two week waiting period to support the embryo's implantation into the uterine lining.

Dr. Levitas hypothesizes that hypnosis "helped a woman’s uterus to remain relaxed, allowing the embryo to implant more easily.  It is also possible that hypnosis produced changes in the immune or hormonal uterine function resulting in an improvement in the interaction between the blastocyst and the endometrium, or the lining of the uterus.  This study suggests that the use of hypnosis during ET may significantly improve the IVF-ET cycle outcome in terms of increased implantation and clinical pregnancy rates."
